Skin care in 4 steps
Skin care is one of those things that can be confusing, but it’s also important to take care of your skin. That’s why we’ve created this easy guide to get you started. Just follow these four steps and you’ll have healthy, glowing skin in no time!
Cleanse your skin
- To cleanse your skin, use a gentle cleanser that is suitable for your skin type. You should cleanse at least twice a day: once in the morning and again before you go to bed. However, if you’re wearing makeup or sunscreen, make sure to wash it off first before following up with a cleanser (this will help prevent breakouts). When choosing a cleanser for yourself, look for something that contains ingredients like glycerin (which helps retain moisture) or salicylic acid (which has anti-inflammatory properties). Avoid soap because it can strip away too much oil from the surface of your face and lead to redness or irritation; instead opt for gel formulas that do not contain any harsh detergents such as sulfates!
Tone your skin
Toning is an important step in your skincare routine, because it removes any remaining dirt and dead skin cells. It also helps to balance the PH level of your skin.
Tone with a cotton pad or ball (you can find these at any drugstore) and apply to face and neck, including décolleté if you have one.
Exfoliate
If you’re new to skin care, the idea of exfoliating may sound a bit intimidating. But it’s actually quite simple: Exfoliation means removing dead skin cells and other buildup from your face in order to reveal smoother, brighter skin beneath. You can use a scrub or brush.
You might want to give yourself an extra-thorough scrubbing before heading out on a date or when you’re going somewhere with lots of photos–it’ll help ensure that all those blemishes are hidden under layers of makeup instead of showing up on camera!
And just like any other part of your body, if there’s something wrong with your face (like acne), then it makes sense that you’d want it fixed ASAP!
Moisturize your skin
Moisturizer is the most important part of your skin care routine. It’s what keeps your face looking healthy and hydrated, and it can even help prevent wrinkles.
The best type of moisturizer has SPF in it so that you’re protected from harmful UV rays while you’re out in the sun (even if it’s just for an hour). Moisturizers with SPF should be light but also hydrating–they should not feel heavy on the skin or leave a greasy residue behind. You should apply moisturizer in layers: first, put some on your hands; then rub them together until they warm up; then pat this into any dry spots on your face (like around the nose or mouth); finally swipe some more onto other areas where there are no dry patches yet! Do this every day before bedtime so that when morning comes around again tomorrow morning there won’t be any visible signs left behind by yesterday’s activities!
