10 Methods For Reducing Anxiety
We know how hard it is to control your anxiety when you’re feeling anxious about something. That’s why we want to help you find ways to reduce your stress and anxiety.
Exercise
Exercise is a great way to reduce anxiety. It releases endorphins, which make you feel good and help relieve stress. Exercise can also help you sleep better, which is another way of reducing anxiety. Some people find that exercising helps them focus their attention on something other than their worries and anxieties, while others find that physical activity gives them time away from their troubles so they don’t have to think about them as much at home or work.Exercise has many benefits besides helping with anxiety; it improves cardiovascular health, reduces cholesterol levels and blood pressure (both risk factors for heart disease), improves bone density (which decreases risk of osteoporosis), strengthens muscles and joints–all things we need when we’re older! Plus getting out into nature makes us happier overall too!
Breathe
Breathing is the first thing we do when we wake up and the last thing we do before sleep. It’s also what we do when we feel anxious, in pain, or even just stressed out at work. When you’re feeling stressed out, take a few minutes to focus on your breathing and try some deep breathing exercises. This can help calm your body down so that it’s not fighting against itself anymore–it will give both parts of your brain something else to focus on besides each other!
Take a hot bath or shower
A hot bath or shower can be a great way to relax and soothe your nerves. Try adding a bath bomb or bubble bath, making sure that the water is warm but not hot (you don’t want to get burned). If you don’t have time for a full bath, take a few minutes to enjoy some lavender essential oil in the shower! Lavender has been shown to reduce anxiety by helping people feel more calm and relaxed.
Get a massage
Getting a massage is a great way to de-stress and relax. Massage can help you feel less tense, more energetic, and more relaxed throughout the day. It’s also been shown to improve sleep quality by reducing insomnia and helping people fall asleep faster when they do have trouble sleeping (1).
If you’re interested in getting a massage but don’t know where to start or how much it will cost, check out our article on how much massages cost at different places–we’ve got all sorts of tips for saving money on this relaxing treatment!
Get a manicure/pedicure
Getting a manicure or pedicure can be a great way to relax and take your mind off of things. It’s important to get a manicure or pedicure from a licensed professional, though–if you’re not sure about the quality of the establishment, check for reviews online before making an appointment. You can also do it at home with your own supplies if you don’t want to spend money on going somewhere else!
Eat healthy foods
Eating healthy is the best way to reduce anxiety. It’s important to make sure you’re eating a balanced diet and getting enough protein, vitamins and minerals, fiber and good fats in your daily meals. Here are some foods you should try:
- Vegetables (broccoli, spinach)
- Whole grains (brown rice)
- Fish like salmon or tuna
- Nuts and seeds (almonds, walnuts)
- Lean meats like chicken breast
- Fruits (apples, oranges)
- Yogurt
Take a nap or just rest
Taking a nap or just resting can be an effective way to reduce anxiety. If you feel anxious, try taking a break from whatever it is that’s making you feel stressed out. If possible, take a nap or rest in a quiet place where there are no distractions (such as music or noise). The point here is not necessarily to sleep but rather just relax and let your body replenish itself with energy so that when the time comes for action again, you’ll be ready for it!
Talk to someone you trust and who understands what you’re going through

Don’t be afraid to ask for help. If you feel like the anxiety is overwhelming, reach out to someone who can help. It may be a friend or family member, or maybe even a teacher or counselor at school. Don’t keep it bottled up inside–it’s important that others know how much stress and anxiety are affecting your life so they can help as well!
Don’t worry about what others will think if they see that we’re emotional; most people will understand how difficult these situations can be on us personally (and emotionally).
Call, write or email people in your support system to let them know you need help right now and that they can help by just listening or giving advice if they want to offer it
